Max Ryan: Known for Playing Harder Characters Turns Sex Symbol in SEX AND THE CITY 2

Max Ryan: Known for Playing Harder Characters Turns Sex Symbol in SEX AND THE CITY 2

When I got asked to put together some scene work for Sex and the City 2, I was looking for a romantic comedy. It sat on my desk, and I remember thinking, “What am I going to do with this now?” Eventually I got to it. That was my first romantic comedy. It’s kind of strange when you play pretty hard characters, which I’ve been playing. What I’m trying to say, it was great because it was me just becoming me just having fun. It was brilliant just to be able to portray myself. Obviously with a character I don’t walk around naked, of course.

Write What You Know – Songwriting Tips from Rich Mouser at the Mouse House Studio

Writing a song can be daunting. First, there are the drums, then the rhythm, chords, and so on. In spite of all that, you still have the lyrics, and you’d better sing them with some feeling! Why would anybody tackle such a task? Many songwriters ask themselves the same thing when they spend so much time in the studio writing and producing a song, only to get it rejected. So what is the secret to writing a good song? Naturally, there’s more than one way to do anything, but seasoned producer Rich Mouser helps to shed a little light on this very complex art of songwriting.

Mercedes Benz Star Lounge – Creating Memorable Moments for America’s Royalty . . . the Celebrity

Mercedes Benz Star Lounge – Creating Memorable Moments for America’s Royalty . . . the Celebrity

Last season was my very first ever entrance to the Star Lounge. Just like some myth, I’d heard it existed, but had never seen it firsthand. Stars casually came in and out of this intimate space. And security guarded its entrance like some royal Egyptian tomb. If you weren’t on the tip sheet, or a famous journalist, guess what . . . you weren’t getting’ in! So what’s all the hoopla about anyway? It’s just a small room, nicely decorated with plenty of hors d’oeuvres and black label liquor.

Nathalie Dubois of DPA Productions and Today’s Trend in Gifting Suites

Gifting suites have become a big business. Celebrities are almost guaranteed to show up. The appeal? Getting free stuff and getting your picture taken for the whole world to see. It’s an incredible opportunity if you’re a star. I’ve seen A-listers to C-listers to no-listers walk out of a gifting suite with so much swag they needed their entourage to help them carry it all to their cars.

Palmela G – High End Custom Swimsuits at Affordable Prices

About three years after my training, I picked up quite a few clients, and it was word of mouth from there. I never really advertised. The kind of work that I do, I help a lot of people. It goes really deep. I deal with cancer patients—they lose their hair—I have swim caps. I just do a lot with patients as well. I think my work is not just swimwear. It runs much deeper than that. I could probably write a book on the stories that I’ve been told from the women that I fit and how I’ve helped them. So there’s something deep about my work. It’s not just swimsuits.

What a Delight – Douglas Hannant’s Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection Is a Peacock in Flight!

What a Delight – Douglas Hannant’s Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection Is a Peacock in Flight!

Peacocks strut their stuff, and so did the models in their peacock-styled makeup and hair. (The models’ eyes were made up to look birdlike.) Do you think Hannant was trying to tell us something? Feathers are the trend of the season, and Hannant amply infuses them throughout this collection.

Badgley Mischka Ready-to-Wear Fall 2010 Collection

Badgley Mischka Ready-to-Wear Fall 2010 Collection

Literally the inspiration for the Fall 2010 collection came from images captured by the Hubble telescope. The galaxy inspired this season’s beading according to Mischka. Depending on when Badgley Mischka starting designing the collection, one might wonder if the designers had just seen the movie Star Trek. I only say this because of the way the models were styled; long pony tail hairstyles, a ton of metallic in varying pallettes with hues of silver.

Producer, Engineer, and Mixer Rich Mouser Deemed the Guru of Indie Rock: Steadily Raising the Bar of Quality Recordings

Producer, Engineer, and Mixer Rich Mouser Deemed the Guru of Indie Rock: Steadily Raising the Bar of Quality Recordings

Deemed the guru of indie rock, Rich Mouser has recorded countless bands. His specialty is certainly in the guitar-driven rock genre. He has helped cultivate the sound of emerging indie bands and has polished established acts inside and outside of the country. He’s one of the most respected progressive rock engineers and mixers and has worked with Transatlantic, Spock’s Beard, Dream Theater, and more. Within the last few years, Mouser has imported Irish talent (Jaded Sun, Paul Toal, and Lancelot), produced their albums, and helped to establish their sound. It’s not so far-fetched that bands outside of the country have traveled here just to have the opportunity to work with this talented producer.

LA Fashion Week . . . Where Did You Go?

LA Fashion Week . . . Where Did You Go?

Fashion Week as I’ve known it for the last 6 1/2 years was very different this season. There were runway shows and designer installations scattered throughout Los Angeles, including Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. But how I longed for the days when everything was held under one roof. Smashbox Studios on Higuera in Culver City was fashion week’s old familiar home base. But we fashion followers were at a loss.
