Flower Power: Orchid-Based Beauty
By Shahada Karim | May 6th, 2013 | Category: Beauty, Haircare, Skincare | Comments Off on Flower Power: Orchid-Based BeautyThe orchid has long been praised for its beauty . . . but an increasing number of beauty companies are harnessing the gorgeous bloom for its cosmetic properties. Orchids are often considered the “perfect plant” for the skin. They are famous for moisturizing, boosting skin’s immunity, soothing irritated skin, and reducing the look of fine lines.
We searched for some of the best products containing this amazing flower and came up with a list of favorites.
White Sands ‘The Cure’ 24/7 Hair Cell Renewal
Price: $30
Location: www.whitesandsproducts.com
This leave-in treatment is suitable for all hair types. It claims to strengthen hair, control fly-aways, and protect against breakage.
We found that it absorbed quickly and helped detangle our stubborn tresses. Over time, we noticed less hair shedding, and more resistance to breakage.
Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil
Price: $50
Location: www.macys.com
This anti-aging oil contains pure plant extracts and no preservatives. It claims to revitalize and restore radiance to moisture-depleted skin.
We found that just a small amount went a long way to moisturizing our skin. We used it on damp skin and found that it absorbed well and left our skin looking hydrated and refreshed.
GuerlainOrchidee Imperial Mask
Location: www.bloomingdales.com
This mask is enhanced with Orchid Butter, and claims to firm and tone skin over time and diminish the appearance of wrinkles.
We found that it soothed our irritated skin, and gave it a boost . . . like we’d gotten 8 hours of sleep. It’s pricey, but if it can make us look well rested (even if we’re hardly that), we’ll take it.
