October 2012 Face of the Month Elle Evans
By Ash Gupta 838 Media Group | October 9th, 2012 | Category: Face of the Month, The Mission | 2 commentsAsh Gupta’s October Face of the Month comes all the way from Paris, Paris, Texas, that is. Born in Texas, and raised in Louisiana, Elle Evans launched her fashion modeling career earlier this year. “Being from a small town,” she explains, “I had much bigger dreams to get out and see the world. LA seemed to be the perfect place to start!”
After meeting 838 Media Group this summer, she has worked with Ash Gupta on several editorials and projects. In front of the camera, it’s evident that she takes her career seriously, staying focused and taking direction ‘til the very end.
During a shoot, she explains, “I feel beautiful, powerful, loved, adored, and wanted. I always keep my confidence in front of the camera because if you don’t, your insecurities will show right through the lens to the final images.”
Elle has travelled the world and worked abroad. One of her favorite memories is a commercial she did in China for the Asia market: “I was cast as the part of Marilyn Monroe for a new hot tea-like beverage that promotes youth and beauty.”
Given the fantastic weather and powerful thunderstorms in Texas and Louisiana, Elle’s motto in life is fitting: If you want the rainbow, you have to tolerate the rain. And there has been some rain along the way. “One of my worst modeling experiences,” she tells us, “was working with a very stubborn hair and makeup artist. She wouldn’t take into consideration anything I was saying about the hair or makeup and ended up getting extremely jealous of my and the photographer’s chemistry (which was strictly professional, by the way), and she ended up walking off set halfway through the shoot. The whole day ended up being wasted and none of the images ever used.”
She does have advice for other aspiring models: “Never sign anything without extremely careful consideration and reconsideration! Take in every bit of information and knowledge possible. Look, listen, learn, and feel every bit of your surroundings to make the most out of your entire experience. Be very detail-oriented and don’t miss a thing.”
As a little girl, Elle wanted to be a ballerina since she loves dancing, and also a veterinarian, given her love for animals. Asked what movie character could represent her, she answers without hesitation, “Sleeping Beauty! I’m notorious for being able to sleep for hours upon hours! Thirty-one hours is my record so far.”
Elle describes her personal style as a mix of boho, hippie-chic, casual while still being on trend. “I’m very capable of pulling off outfits that most people can’t,” she exclaims with a smile. A key component of that style is her must-have item of clothing—“white Italian-made combat style boots that go with absolutely any of my clothing”—and her must-have makeup—liquid concealer, blush, and chapstick. Her favorite designers include Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, and Ralph Lauren.
When asked about something she wishes more people knew about her, Elle offers this gem of an attitude:
“It doesn’t matter to me what you dress like, or look like, or what your profession is, if you treat me with kindness and respect, I will do the same to you. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Always.”
And an attitude like that can get you through any thunderstorm.
