For millions of people, the new ‘normal’ requires them to sit in front of a computer or phone or camera… often through Zoom. Many people went from barely brushing their eyebrows, to scouring Youtube tutorials on how to set and light a space… and how put on makeup that wouldn’t scare the crap out of the average child.
FLEKK Cosmetics was on board with simplifying makeup long before we went from brunch to virtual ‘meet and greet.’ Founder Lindsay Bouffard is a professional makeup artist by trade, and is well aware of the challenges of digging into makeup for the first time. Her mission became to ease novices into the idea of exploring color and textures with palettes that take the guesswork out of proper placement.
The eyeshadow palettes are numbered, and come with coordinating brushes. Bouffard’s goal was to create a palette that offered ‘all in one’ solutions, without breaking the bank. The five palettes go from lightest (flirty) to darkest (foxy) to accommodate a wide range of skin tones. The company also released two face palettes that include contour, blush and highlight. There is also a liquid liner for even more definition.
The shadows apply and blend easily, without creasing or major fallout. They stay put until you take them off. In a sea of makeup that promises to do everything from leaving you ‘airbrushed’ to transforming you into a completely different human, it’s nice to find products that let you show up on camera (and one day, in person) looking just like you… on your absolute best day.
